Step One: idea or theme

When clients approach me with an idea in mind it is usually to capture a view of a specific place, often as a special present for someone - this is my forte. I am also really happy to explore any theme and work with a limited palette to match your interior. I have even been approached to paint large-scale murals which I greatly enjoy. Reluctantly I will agree to paint a traditional portrait, however, if there is some room for creativity this is much more interesting. So the important thing to establish here is what the painting is going to be about and if you can provide me with some form of visual reference.

Step Two: style & media

If you have visited my portfolio pages you will have a better idea of which style & media you like. Perhaps a favourite vista being transformed in to my geometric style in oils, or you may prefer a more traditional style capturing the detail of a place or person in watercolour. A painted poster in acrylic on wood capturing the Art Deco style, or the more expressive and minimalist rustiChic. If, like me, you love colour, or simply neutrals and minimalism, then I am very happy to match a selection of Pantone colours for modern interiors using an abstract style. Perhaps you have no clue and would prefer me to suggest some options, or you have seen something inspirational which you would like to discuss further.

Step Three: format & scale

If you are planning the artwork for a specific space then it is important to consider if a panoramic, square, portrait or landscape format is appropriate. You may also wish to be creative with a triptych or montage of various sizes. Scale is closely linked to budget as I work to an hourly rate and so the scale, style and media will often dictate the time spent. Naturally a traditional detailed painting will take many more hours than a minimalist one. If time is a factor then canvasses up to 40cm x 50cm are very manageable and quicker to post. Large canvasses however will be more expensive and will take more time to ship.

If you have any further questions then please do contact me. I am happy to consider all ideas and budgets, so you may just wish to contact me to receive a quote. The time taken and price of shipping can only be estimated in the initial quote. Framing is costly in Switzerland and glass is not recommend in shipping so if this is a requirement then please consider this being achieved after receipt of the artwork. Painting will commence once a 50% deposit has been received - this is non-refundable. Payment in full as stipulated in the final invoice must be received in Swiss Francs before the artwork is shipped.
